Finally, the last cart was counted and added to the account scroll. Lucius Tarquinius Lepidus dropped some melted wax onto the list and pressed it with his signature ring, verifying the numbers.
"Ok, now give me your supporting documents," he told Mark Atilius. "I hope everything is in order here?"
"You see..." Mark Atilius hesitated a bit and then replied, "we are short six carts of iron." "The carts axes broke all at once and we had to leave the cargo there."
"Six carts?" asked Tarquinius Lepidus suspiciously.
"Yes, six carts," confirmed his old friend. "And three carts of clay."
"So, clay too?" snapped the architect.
"Yes, clay too," the caravan driver confirmed. "And five carts of crop."
The place fell silent. The chief imperial architect looked on the trade caravan with a mournful expression.
"What did you do with the carts, Mark?" Tarquinius asked point-blank.
"The rulers of neighboring regions took them," Mark Atilius confessed. "They demanded them as a fee for safe passage through their lands."
Their conversation was interrupted again. A horn sound could be heard over the land.
" It seems the prefect is calling for an urgent city council meeting." Tarquinius frowned. "I need to go."
Soon the whole city council had gathered in the main hall of the residence, and the prefect immediately started his speech.
"You all know we're close to the frontier. Ten minutes ago I received a dispatch from our scouts. The news they brought to me is very important and requires immediate action. One of our archenemies, the Gaul city, has sent an attack our way - a huge army accompanied by rams and catapults. First, we need to get our defenses ready. Second, the best defense is actually a counter-offense. I guess we might be able to destroy that village before their army arrives here. Taking into account their speed, the enemy will be here in ten hours. The architect, Gods bless him, already constructed the tournament square and it’s already a quarter upgraded too, so I hope we have a good chance that our catapults will arrive at this Gaul village faster than their army gets here. The centurions need thirty minutes to prepare the plan and we need another two hours for our army to gather together and launch an attack! Let's not waste any more time!

    Task:
Will the Roman catapults be able to destroy the Gaul village before the Gauls attack them? What will be the time difference? (Server: RoA, speed: x2. Keep in mind that the tournament square on RoA gameworlds has a stronger impact on speed than on regular servers).

    ANSWER:

    Gauls’ attack:
Here are 2 facts that important.
    1) The prefect told: Ten minutes ago I received a dispatch
    2) …the enemy will be here in ten hours
So, in total the Gaul army will be on their way for 10 hours and 10 min.
Catapults (without Tournament Square) travel with the speed 6 fields per hour. 10 hours + 10 min = Gaul city is 61 fields away from the Roman one.

    Romans’ attack:
    1) Tournament square in RoA has greater effect than on normal gameworlds.
    2) Speed x2,
    3) Tournament Square quarter upgraded = 5 lvl
    => Roman troops will be on their way for 6:45:00 + 2 hours + 30 min = 9:15:00
So, yes, Romans are able to destroy Gaul city before the attack arrives.
Time difference – 55 min (if we take into account everything)
    Or, I’d also advise you to accept 10:00:00 – 6:45:00 = 3:25:00

NOTE: due to a few calculation issues in the original post, all answers that were randomly chosen with the 40 - 45 - 50 - 55 answer were accepted

    10 min old report+10hrs until landing = 10:10 min ( 0,0 to 0,61) for cat speed
    ROAx2 TS level 5 Roman cat speed 61 fields = 6hr45min +30min plan prep+2 hr garrisoning the troops= 9hr15min

    10:10-9:15 = 45 min
Yes, The Roman catapults will capture the Gaul city before their attacks land with 45 min to spare, provided no one stops off for a brew(server lag)

    Re: Day 3

Taking 2x speed on mind, any catapult speed is 6 field/hr.
Gaul villa don't have any Tournament Square so total distance is 6*10=60 fields. (as it takes 10 hrs to reach)
Now a quarter Tournament Square= 5 Laval Tournament Square
    Roman Catapult's speed will increase 50% beyond 20 field. i.e. 9 field/hr
    So, 1st 20 field travel time = 20/6 hr = 3 Hr 20 Mins
    Rest 40 field travel time = 40/9 hr = 4 Hr 26 Mins 40 Sec
ie Total travel time = 7 Hrs 46 Mins 40 Sec.
    Planning time = 30 Mins
    Army Collection Time= 2 Hrs
    So Total Time= 10 Hrs 16 Mins 40 Sec.
So They will fail to destroy that Gaul Villa before it's army arrival. It miss the time by 16 Mins 40 Sec.

    TS level 5: 150% Speed
    Normal Catapult Speed: 6 fields/hour
Roman Catapult Speed at TS level 5: 9 fields/hour
Time Taken to reach the Gaul Village: 6 hours 40 minutes
Extra Time: 30 minutes (Planning) + 2 hours (for gathering army)
    = 2 hours 30 minutes
Total Time taken to reach Gaul Village: 9 hours 10 minutes
Time taken for Gaul Army to attack: 10 hours

Roman catapults will be able to destroy Gaul village before the Gaul army attacks
The time difference is 50 minutes.

    Re: Day 3

Yes they will be able to destroy the Gaul Village. The Gaul village is at more than 80 fields from Roman village. If the Roman village has the tournament square at lvl5 the romans will reach the Gaul village in 5hour and 5 minute (half from Gaul time which is 10 hours and 10minutes)
    Time difference is 10 hours - (5h and 5m + 30m+2h)=2 hours and 25 minutes

    Re: Day 3

    Offense Calc-
Time taken by catas(army's slowest unit) to land
    -from Gaul City(attacker) to Roman City(defender) = 10 hours + 10 minutes (information from scouts) = 10:10:00 hrs

Estimated Distance between Gaul and Roman cities (assuming Gaul has no TS) for 10:10:00 on 2x speed = 61 fields

    Counter Offence calc-
    Roman TS = 5 (Quarter of maximum[=20])
Time utilized before launch of attack: 10min (information from scout) + 30 min(centurion's plans) + 2:00 hours (army to get together) = 2:40:00 hrs

Estimated time for counter-attack from Roman city to Gaul city (assuming cata speed, 2x, 5 TS) = 6:45:00 hrs for 61 fields

    Total time taken = 6:45:00 + 2:40:00 = 9:25:00

    Re: Day 3

    - Gaul Trebuchet arrive within 10 hours + 10 minute (scouting time)
    - Total time of travel for Gaul = 610 Minutes
    - Cata speed = 6 fields/Hours
    - Distance between two cities = (610 min)/(60 field/min) = 61 Field (approx)
    - The tournament square is of quarter upgraded = level 5 = 200% above the 30 fields
    - Travel time for Fire Catapult from the city of roman to gaul = 6:45:00 ;
    - Centurion Plan Preparation time = 30 minutes; and
    - army to gather together and launch attack = 2 hours;
-therefore total time required by Romans to launch attack on Gaul city
    = 6:45:00 + 0:30:00 + 2:00:00 = 9:15:00

So, Roman troops will first arrive in the city compare to Gaul as 10:00:00 to 9:15:00 = 0:45:00,
i.e. 45 minutes before the Gaul attacking troops.
