Welcome to the Travian AU Forums! These forums are a great source of information, as well as being a fun community. This guide will aim to explain many sections and tools available on the forums, which should be a great help to both new and experienced users.

How to access the forums
Of course, by reading this, you are already on the forums. This is just a short section on alternative ways the forums can be accessed. The forums can be accessed a number of ways. The easiest is the URL link, which is http://archive.forum.travian.com.au. Please note that there is no “www” in the address.
From the homepage, there is a link on the left side of the screen, see the picture below.
While playing Travian, there is also the same link on that screen.

Creating a Forum Account
When you first access the forums, you will want to register an account, so you can see all the sections, post in threads, and create new topics. To do this, you can click either of these links;
You will then have to read through the Terms and Conditions, and then you will be able to enter details such as a Username, password, and such.
Further down, there’s a section for entering In-Game Names on the AU servers which you play. You’ll need to enter your Username in Username box, and in the User ID box, you have to enter your UID, which is a number. To see this, log on to that account, click on Statistics, and then click on your name. This should lead you to your profile. In the web address box at the top of your browser, it should look like: http://(SERVER).travian.com.au/spieler.php?uid=(NUMBER), where the Server is either s1, s2, s3, s4, or speed, and the NUMBER is your User ID. Copy and paste this number into the relevant box in your registration page, and it will link your forum profile to your in-game profile.
Signatures and Avatars
There are further ways to express yourself via your forum profile, in the forms of signatures and avatars. Avatars are pictures in your forum profile, that appear under your username in each post. Signatures are found at the end of each post and Personal Message (PM), and can range from pictures, quotes, links, or just words. To edit your avatar or signature, go into your User Control Panel (http://archive.forum.travian.com.au/usercp.php) and click either link below;
As a regular User, there are 5 sections to the forums, as well as an Embassy to each server.
The Town Hall is the forum for Announcements, Server Information, Statistics, Crew Introductions, and Contests. This is where all the important information is, and should be checked regularly. It will contain information about any updates, new servers, and special upcoming events, such as Ceasefires and Endgames.
The Academy follows, which contains Guides, Questions, and General Stuff. Here is where new players would find the most information. There is plenty of useful guides in here, from beginners' guides, to advanced strategies. If you can not find the information in a FAQ or in it's own topic, you can ask any sort of question about gameplay in the Questions forum. However, it is recommended you search for the answer first, as more than likely, somebody has already asked that very question before. Lastly, in General Stuff, it's contains everything about Travian, except for questions.
The Workshop is the third section, and in it is Ideas, Server Issues, Commentary Box, and Graphic Packs and User Projects. If you have an idea which could improve Travian, create a new thread here, and other users will discuss it. If liked by the community enough, it may be passed on to Travian HQ. However, read the commonly posted ideas thread first, as many ideas get rejected all the time for one reason or another. If a server appears to be down, or suffering a bug, you can report the issue in Server Issues. Be sure to read through that, and Announcements, in case the bug has already been noticed. Commentary Box is where you can discuss on how Travian is run and so forth. Lastly, Graphic Packs and User Projects is for posting Travian tools you have created yourself.
The Rally Point is the dualling section. Here, you are able to post a request for a new dual, or an offer to dual with someone who is looking. Please take care here, by posting in the appropiate section, and only posting one thread at a time.
At the bottom of the page is the Brewery. It is the most relaxed section of the forums, and contains games, non-Travian stuff, creative writing and designs, and discussions.
In between the Rally Point and the Brewery is an Embassy for each server. Here you can post applications to join alliances, post notices that your alliance is looking for new players, and a Politics and Diplomacy section, which is just threads about events happening in the relevant server.
Who's who on the Forums
The majority of users will have a green username, indicating that they are just regular users. However, there are some users with different coloured names, indicating that they are part of the Travian Team, either Admins, MultiHunters, Moderators, Support, or IRC Support. Admins have their name in Purple, and are either Game Admins, or Community Admin. MultiHunters have blue names, and are in charge of dealing with cheaters and bugs in game. Moderators are the most common Team members that you will see on the forums, and have red names. They keep the forums clean and free from spam, flaming, and other breaches of the rules. They, as well as admins, have the power to infract you if you breach the rules (This will be discussed later). Support and IRC Support are the helpers, both on the forums, in-game, and on IRC (More about IRC later). For a full list of the AU Team, see this thread for more information.
Search the forums
If you have a question, or have encountered a server bug, it's best to search the forums first before posting a new thread. Most likely, someone has asked that already. The Search function can be found here.
Create a new thread
You need to be registered and logged in to create a new thread and post replies to one. Once you have logged in, go to the relevant forum. For this example, I am asking how to change a village name. Being a question, I would go to the Questions forum.
You are then brought to this screen
Firstly, enter a title. This should just be a couple of words describing your question, such as "How do I change my village name?" In the white box below, enter a detailed message of your problem, and what you want to know. Lastly, once you have spellchecked and tidied up your message, hit the Submit New Thread button. You will then be redirected to your new thread, and you can either wait there, and refresh your browser every so often, or you can browse other sections of the forum. The forums are busiest from about 4pm to 11pm AEST (GMT+10), and usually you'll have a decent answer to most questions within an hour, in my opinion. Harder questions, you might be waiting a bit longer.
Replying to a thread
If you wish to add your contribution to a thread, you can reply to a thread. There are three options to this, Post reply, Quick Reply, or Quoting. Quoting will be discussed soon. Post Reply is the option that will have all the features to replying, such as indents, list numbering, and changing font styles and sizes. Quick Reply is faster, but has less options. To use the standard Post Reply, click the Post Reply button, show below.
You will then be taken to a page that looks like Create a New Thread, with a few minor changes. Once you have entered your reply, you can "Submit Reply". Alternatively, you can use the Quick Reply Box. At the bottom of the thread, there will be this:
You can enter a quick message, use the limited options there, and hit the Post Quick Reply button to post a reply faster.
Editing
If you have just created a new thread or post, and you realise you have made a mistake, or forgot to add something, do not make a new post! This is known as double-posting and is against the rules.
To avoid this, you are able to edit your own posts. Moderators and Admins are also able to edit your posts. To edit a post, there is a Edit button next to your posts, as show below.Originally Posted by Forum Rules
Quoting
When you want to reply to a specific message, you can quote them in your post. To do this, you can use the quote button. When you press the button shown below, you are taken to a new post screen, but their post that you are quoting will be there already, in brackets. Click after the closing tags (will look like [ / quote ] without the space) and type your response below.
And your message will look like this.The message you are quoting will look like this in your reply
Multi-quoting
If you have several quotes you wish to reply to at once, you can multi-quote. To do this, start at the first post you wish to quote, and click the "Multi-quote This Message" button. Go through the thread and click the Multi-quote button for each post you wish to quote. On the last one, click the Quote button. This will bring up a new page showing all the posts in quote tags. You'll be able to enter a reply in between each quote, or just reply at the end of them all.
Hyperlinking
Hyperlinking is making a word clickable in your post, that will lead the reader to another webpage. The link will appear green, and when you place your mouse cursor over it, it will be slighty darker and underlined. For example, this link will take you to the forum homepage. To create your own hyperlinks, type the sentence first. Highlight the word or phrase you wish to become a link, and click this button: (It is at the top of the message box). It will make a pop-up box appear, and you'll be able to enter the URL that you want the word or phrase to link to.
Posting images
To post an image, click in the message box when creating a new post, click this button: and enter the link to your image. Please note that you need to have the image on the internet, not on your own computer. If they are on your computer, use a site such as photobucket.com or imageshack.us. Upload your images and use the link created. Alternatively, you can use tags. Enter [ img ] www.imageURL.com.au [ / img ] (without the spaces) and the image URL to the link to your image.
(It is at the top of the message box). It will make a pop-up box appear, and you'll be able to enter the URL that you want the word or phrase to link to.

which is found on the bottom left corner of each post. Enter a quick message as to why the post was reported, and Send Report. Please note that abuse of this function may results in infractions and bans on your forum account. [/just]
If you have the requirements, you will add a point (or multiple points) to the user. These requirements are dependent on how long you have been a user, the number of posts you have made, and your current reputation. I won't list the current requirements here, as they change every so often. If you can add rep, you'll know.
